In my position, I develop programmes to support border guards in identifying potential victims of human trafficking. By doing so, me and my colleagues work to protect the victims and gather information about those who organise trafficking in human beings. We are aware that sometimes a border guard is the first law enforcement officer that a victim of human trafficking may come in contact with. This is why it is so important that all officers who work in Frontex operations can identify potential victims of THB and know how to react. We conduct trainings, produce manuals and organise workshops to raise their awareness. We hope that our work will contribute to the arrest of exploiters.
